Heartland Payment Systems Card Compromise

Heartland Payment Systems, one of the nation's largest payment processors delivering credit, debit and prepaid card processing, payroll, check management and payments solutions reported that they were a victim of a security breach in 2008. Heartland believes the intrusion is contained.

While not all MidWestOne Bank cardholders are at risk, we have taken the following steps to protect our customers:

We are monitoring accounts and if necessary will notify customers for card closure and re-issuance depending on the type of customer data obtained in the breach.
The Bank has the FALCON fraud monitoring service in place to notify customers and the Bank of possible fraudulent activity on customer accounts. FALCON and/or the Bank will immediately block the reported card based on the level of "at risk" activity to protect customers against losses.

As always, customers should monitor their account activity and immediately report any suspicious activity to the Bank at 800-247-4418.
